Our beloved protein cookie recipe just got a spooky Halloween makeover. With one simple (and slightly creepy) twist, your choc chips transform into tiny, edible spiders — perfect for your haunted snack table… or to scare off your gym buddies so you don’t have to share. Ready to get creepy in the kitchen? Let’s bake.
-----------------
Prep Time: 10 minutes or less
Serves: 10 cookies (depending on the size you like)
-----------------
INGREDIENTS
- 25g vegan butter
- 60g peanut butter
- 20g sugar
- 10ml flax seeds + 30ml water
- 25g White Wolf Nutrition All In One Vanilla Protein
- 30g soy milk
- A pinch of salt
- 30g whole wheat flour
- 30g all-purpose flour
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 30g dark vegan chocolate chips
- Extra dark chocolate (for melting and piping spider legs)
- Candy eyes (or white chocolate to create your own)
METHOD
- Add your 10ml flax seeds and 30ml water to a bowl and stir to combine. Leave to set until it thickens.
- Mix your butter, peanut butter and sugar together in a bowl. Then stir in your soy milk and thickened flax mixture.
- Mix in your protein powder, salt and baking soda until completely combined.
- Then add your flours and stir carefully. Make sure not to overmix. You might need to knead the dough lightly to incorporate all of your dry ingredients.
- Finally, fold in your dark chocolate chips.
- Divide the dough into 4–5 portions (depending on how big you want your cookies to be) and flatten them out on a tray lined with parchment paper. These won't spread in the oven, so make sure to flatten them properly into round discs before baking.
- Bake for 10 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C. Leave to cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
SPIDER FINISHING TOUCH
Once your cookies have cooled, pick 2–3 of the most visible chocolate chips on each cookie to turn into spiders.
Melt a small amount of dark chocolate, transfer to a piping bag (or use a spoon or toothpick) and carefully draw 8 little legs coming out from each chip.
Add candy eyes to finish, or use a dot of white chocolate if you’d prefer to pipe your own. Let the chocolate set — then serve your spooky creations!
